From what I've learned, F-Zero machines are levitated magnetically on the tracks they race on, but what about off-road, or even public roads? How are their levitation systems able to work off-road as seen in the GX cut-scenes (Captain Falcon's race with Samurai Goroh in Chapter 2 starts on dirt, then on asphalt)? Are they also able to ionize the air around them to move downwards, lifting the machines in the process? I've noticed that just about every F-Zero machine is designed like a cross between a race car and a fighter jet, which must give them extra lift. Does that take strain off the levitation process?

Please help me explain the physics of F-Zero in as full detail as possible.
